Palo is one of the few dogs I have had who I know his exact birthday because he was born inside a shelter in Ventura County, after his entire group of relatives, parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts and cousins, were confiscated by Ventura County Animal Control for inhumane conditions. Palo was born in the shelter after the confiscation.
A couple of months later, after the case was closed, per the Hayden Law in California, Canine Adoption Rescue League of Ventura County, took the entire group and found homes from them. I was told that the shelter wanted to euthanize all the dogs because they thought there were signs of dog fighting at the kennel and many dogs had dog fighting wounds. That was April 2011.
Here is the first photo posted on Petfinders of Palo. They were calling his Raider.
Here is his brother, Ricky
Here is his mom, June
His dad, Riley
His grandmother, Betty
His aunt, Milly
Uncle Chester
Here is Palo at 14 weeks.
These last eight years with Palo have been so much fun. He is so extremely versatile in every way. So far, I haven't found anything this dog won't do. He is very brave and will go up to any stranger on the street and say "hello."
Here is to another eight years, Palo. Hope they will be as fun as the previous eight years.
